Branding & Content Strategy
The Vinyl Suns Band

The Vinyl Suns is a five piece indie band based in Atlanta. Their unapologetic love for the old style blues, rock n' roll, vinyl records and funky grooves defines their personality as well as their music ethos. I was commissioned to develop their visual identity and brand strategy, which was then be implemented into the band’s marketing materials, social media, and photography style.

Case Study

The brand

The logotype takes us straight to the oldies. Back to the raw seventies' letterpress style and its quirky venues,—those hidden in back alleys whose walls still smell like cigarettes and where only good music is allowed. The textured typeface represents the analog and imperfect sound of vinyl records, while the marigold sun mark adds the distinctive element that speaks to the energy they bring to the stage.

The photography style is where the energy and the authenticity of their live performances comes in, —using HDR style imagery, saturated colors, and dynamic shots.

The merch

The merchandise collection was designed to cater to their diverse fan base, featuring a diverse array of products, from classic band t-shirts to smaller accessories such as keychains, pins, and stickers. The designs were carefully handcrafted to reflect the band's analog aesthetic and resonate with their style, creating a sense belonging for their fans.

Later on, thanks to a crowdfunding campaign, we were able to release a limited edition of vinyl records, the ultimate item of memorabilia, making it a sought-after collectible amongst the fan base.

The album release

Planned two-month social media campaign designed to improve content feed and drive engagement with the fan base.

The Album: Designed the album cover for “Up At Night” for digital, CD and Vinyl pressing.

Pre-Release Campaign: Coordinated the weekly release of three singles prior to the full album release, along with curated prompts to drive engagement.

  1. Ticket giveaway for users who mentioned in the post who they would take to the show.

  2. Posted videos of funny dance moves, encouraging fans to share their dance moves to the single.

  3. Had the band members share 2 lies and 1 truth, inviting fans to guess the ‘Innocent Lie’, tying it back to the name of the single.

Album Release Party: Coordination of the album release party at local music venue Smith’s Olde Bar. Production of social media teasers, newsletter invites and limited edition merchandise for the show.
